About Mrs. McFarland
I'm sure you are interested in knowing a little more about your child's teacher as I learn more and more about your child.
I grew up locally, here in LaMesa, and in fact, I was a Lemon Avenue Leopard too! I attended community college before transferring to Cal State Fullerton where I earned my bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies (also known as a little of everything). I then returned to San Diego to earn my teaching credential at San Diego State University. I recently completed my Master's Degree in Educational Technology online, again through Cal Sate Fullerton. I have been teaching in the LaMesa Spring Valley School District for over 20 years.
I live with my husband and two daughters in the Fletcher Hills area. My oldest will be a senior at Grossmont and my youngest will be a freshman. I am also involved with my daughters in swimming and theater.
I enjoy reading, scrapbooking, and hanging out by the water, be it the pool or the beach. Family time is also important to me. As a teacher I enjoy teaching science and math but as a student I enjoyed reading most.
I am looking forward to an exciting and productive school year.
